Support for these activities has come from various entities including India’s Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation.
The Specialist group overseeing the Energy and Change Management Forum (which covers urban infrastructure) at ASCI provides overall advice and guidance to S3IDF as well as active and extensive assistance in a number of the energy and water/sanitation small-investments in S3IDF's portfolio. These groups at ASCI take initiative in identifying candidate investments and recommending/ coordinating partners that have additional skills, knowledge and experience to assist S3IDF and its affiliate. These specialist groups at ASCI also assist with pre-investment and financing studies, and collaborate on implementation and monitoring/evaluation.

CENTER FOR SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES (CST)
The Centre for Sustainable Technologies (Indian Institute Of Science) was established in 1974 originally as ASTRA (Application of Science and Technology for Rural Areas) with the basic objective of correcting the strong urban bias in R&D in Science and Engineering. CST has focused on science and technology issues as well as developing technologies that foster rural development and minimize the existing rural-urban disparity. The main areas of work have been in alternate and low-cost buildings, fuel efficient stoves and driers, water purification, renewable energy, climate change, forestry and bioenergy. Technologies developed at CST largely use local resources and skills and place great emphasis on minimizing ecological and environmental damage, while empowering people and communities.
CST guides S3IDF in all sanitation and solid waste treatment/handling related projects, including energy related aspects. S3IDF project A.12 (Mysore NSB) was constructed under the guidance of CST (Dr. Chanakya). The scheme consists of a treatment facility for the human and animal wastes at the Congregation's residential school in Mysore, Karnataka.
